WELCOME

Therapy is different for everyone - everybody has their own wants and needs and therefore my response as a therapist is always different, depending on the individual needs of the client sitting in front of me. There is no set format.

Our initial session is a ‘get to know you’ session where you can share what it is that brings you to therapy and ask any questions you might have for me. If we’re both happy to continue working together, we generally agree to an initial phase of 6 sessions after which time we review our work together and decide how to proceed.

Therapy has many layers to it: I see therapy as an exploration and a team-effort to embark on a journey to meet you and bring you to a place of wellness and wholeness. This is done with patience, kindness and compassion.

There is no set time frame for how long somebody should spend in therapy. Some people may seek support for one particular issue while others may want to delve deeper. Once again, it’s unique to each individual.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN A THERAPY SESSION
ABOUT
My exploration into therapy and healing began at a young age when I was faced with numerous life challenges. After initially delving into a range of holistic therapies, I trained in Shamanism at the Irish Centre for Shamanic Studies. Wanting to broaden my skills beyond the transpersonaI, I embarked on a four-year higher-diploma training course in Biodynamic and Integrative Psychotherapy, further exploring my interest in working with individuals on all levels: Mind, body and soul.

I have also undergone further professional development in areas such as addiction; mindfulness; working with diverse sexual practices and non-gender conforming identities and a two-day training course in ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).

I hold a BA in Philosophy, an MA in Screenwriting and have worked in various roles over the years – from large scale companies to my own personal creative projects. For the last number of years I have worked in the charity sector, working with people living with long-term health conditions, specifically migraine and arthritis.

I am a pre-accredited member of IAHIP and fully adhere to their code of ethics.
Over the past number of years, many people have explored work with plant medicines such as Ayahuasca. This can be a profound and evocative experience for many people, however many spaces do not give sufficient time to integrate experience. Using the shamanic drum, art work and/or guided visualizations, plant medicine integration work aims to ground the Ayahuasca journey so that the individual can fully benefit from the teachings.

I also offer these sessions for people who are considering working with Ayahuasca as part of their preparation.

For those who have not worked with plant medicine, but are drawn to Shamanic or Transpersonal work, I also offer a space to explore the unconscious in a setting that is grounded and safe. Spiritual by-passing (using Spiritual beliefs to by-pass emotional pain) is more and more common nowadays. Within the Spiritual and Shamanic path, there are many emotional and egoic traps. Combining both shamanic and psychotherapeutic techniques is a powerful way to support you in your personal journey.

PLANT MEDICINE & SHAMANIC COUNSELLING
When appropriate or if requested, biodynamic massage can be introduced with clients. This involves working with different types of tension in the body and energy field. The massage can vary depending on the need of each client – it may be holding/grounding (connecting the client with their body); light and flowing (allowing the body space to ‘digest’ emotions) or strong and vigorous (working through blocks and defences).

Boundaries and pacing are clearly defined with biodynamic massage.

Alongside massage work, we can also explore body-expression techniques or general movement, which are powerful tools to fully embody experiences and find space to move beyond trapped positions in life.

BIODYNAMIC MASSAGE
There are over 150 types of psychotherapy - each with their own focus and techniques. Biodynamic psychotherapy is a humanistic, body-oriented approach to psychotherapy. Humanistic psychotherapy works with individuals as they are (as oppose to trying to categorize or analyse them) and recognizes the innate wisdom and ability that everybody has to develop their own potential and take charge of their lives.

Integrative psychotherapy uses a range of different tools and techniques to bring an individual towards wholeness – a unity of how we think, how we act, how we feel.

Biodynamic psychotherapy works with the principal of the life-force, or bioenergy – our natural birth-right of wellness and wholeness. With emotional repression, unresolved processes or traumas, this life force becomes blocked or stagnant in the body, inhibiting our natural creative expression of energy and emotions.

While we primarily use traditional talk-therapy in sessions, we can also explore a range of techniques to bring life-force back into the body, working respectfully and carefully in tune with the pace of the client.
